Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is performed to improve the baggy or wrinkled appearance of the eyelids. Dr. Sadove, Gainesville/North Florida board certified plastic surgeon specializes in eyelid surgery to create a more refreshed appearance to the eye area. Many patients find that it makes them look more alert and well rested.
To perform upper eyelid surgery, a consultation in the office with Dr Sadove is required. You will sit privately with Dr Sadove and he will listen to your wishes and concerns. Eyelid surgery is not performed if you are taking aspirin or any medications to delay blood clotting. He will ask you, but be sure to tell him if you do.
Digital photos of your eyelids will be taken and reviewed with you on a large computer monitor. You will see exactly what can and would be done. All of your questions will be answered.
You will then sit down with Dr Sadove’s assistant to know exactly what the procedure will cost and plan a date for the procedure.
On the treatment day, we can give you a pill for relaxation if you come with a friend or family member. The treatment is performed in our office with very gentle local anesthesia via a tiny needle. Under sterile conditions, the extra skin is removed and fine stitches close the skin. These are removed in the office after 5 days. Cold compresses are used the first day. There is usually little bruising or discomfort. You will see the preliminary results right away.
Upper eyelid surgery does not change the position of the eyelids. That is different procedure.
